Delegation Programme

The aim of this project is to promote trade, investment and business between Malta and New Zealand via reciprocal trade delegations from the two countries consisting of 12 to 20 businessmen/women (with support from the respective Governments) to explore opportunities for trade, investment and to achieve a greater awareness of commerce between the two countries so as to strengthen bilateral relations.  Other potential outcomes are to enhance socio-economic relations, culture, education, science and to raise the profile of Malta in New Zealand as a gateway into Europe and North Africa.   

 

Malta has a number of incentives that make investing through Malta into Europe or North Africa very attractive and the aim of the Delegation from New Zealand is introduce these opportunities to the New Zealand delegates and also set up opportunities for the New Zealand delegation to meet with potential Maltese partners. We will be presenting seminars in Malta on how to set up your European or North African operations from Malta using local qualified professionals from major international accounting firms and legal practices who specialize in operations from Malta into Europe and North Africa.

 

The seminars and meetings in Malta will be supported by Malta Enterprise. Malta Enterprise is the Malta government agency responsible for the promotion of foreign investment and industrial development in Malta. Its mission is to sustain Malta’s overall competitiveness to create the right environment for successful enterprise in Malta. (http://www.maltaenterprise.com/)

   

The draft Itinerary is for a one week visit to Malta in April 2010(exact dates still being finalized) leaving New Zealand over the weekend so as to spend a full week in Malta.  The programme will include two half day seminars, one sponsored by Malta Enterprise explaining the incentives available to investors into Malta and via Malta into Europe and North Africa, and the other with experienced legal, accounting and tax professionals explaining in more detail exactly how to set up operations in Malta. 

 

The promoters will also organize meetings with local importers, exporters and businesses on both a group basis and on a one on one basis for individual Delegation members in accordance with their individual requirements.

 

The cost of the trip, which includes economy airfares, accommodation of a bed and breakfast basis, two seminars and a Delegation cocktail function (for delegates and quests) and a Delegation dinner for the delegates.

 

In addition, as participants register an interest in visiting Malta  (or New Zealand) they will be able to sign up for their own page(s) and login and Password on the Project dedicated website, so as to keep their private information secure, where they can register their requests for information, as well as who and what they want to see, so that thus information is kept confidential.

 

The promoters will use an experience authorised travel broker to organize the travel for the party, as well as offering optional extras for add-on holidays or other business travel on the way to or from Malta/New Zealand so as to maximize the value of the money spent by participants (these add-ons will be charged as extras to the base airfare budgeted by the promoters). There will a number of options for travel to Malta/New Zealand, either via London, Frankfurt or Dubai, using airlines such as Air Malta, British Airways (One World), Lufthansa and the Star Alliance or Emirates via Dubai. All of the options will be priced and negotiated with the airlines to get the most competitive options for the group.  Participants will be accommodated in Malta in a well known 3-4 star hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.
